血头鹑是婆罗洲特有的珍稀雉类，分布于海拔1000米以上的山地森林。雄鸟头部鲜红色，体羽棕褐色，极为醒目。生性隐秘，栖息于山地密林，以种子和昆虫为食。因分布范围狭窄和栖息地丧失，被列为近危物种。
