About These Birds

Anna's Hummingbird

Anna's hummingbird is the most common hummingbird along the Pacific coast and one of only three species resident in the United States year-round. Their body temperature can drop to near ambient at night to conserve energy.

Spot-throated Hummingbird

A medium-sized hummingbird (10-11 cm) found in Andean foothills of Peru at 1,500-3,000 m. Green plumage with spotted throat. Nectarivore of montane scrub and forest edges. Named after the Polish ornithologist Władysław Taczanowski. A Peruvian near-endemic.
