About These Birds
Enggano Cuckoo-Dove
Slender cuckoo-dove, 32–35 cm, uniform warm cinnamon-rufous with minimal barring and a relatively short tail. Restricted to Enggano Island off the southwestern coast of Sumatra. Inhabits dense lowland forest. Frugivore. Vulnerable due to extremely small range and ongoing forest loss on the island.
Scaly-naped Pigeon
Robust pigeon, 36–40 cm, with dark slate-blue plumage, a vinaceous breast, and a distinctive scaly red neck patch. Resident of tropical forests across the Caribbean archipelago from Puerto Rico to Trinidad. Frugivore foraging in forest canopy and edges. Least Concern but declining on some islands due to hunting.
