About These Birds
Enggano Cuckoo-Dove
Slender cuckoo-dove, 32–35 cm, uniform warm cinnamon-rufous with minimal barring and a relatively short tail. Restricted to Enggano Island off the southwestern coast of Sumatra. Inhabits dense lowland forest. Frugivore. Vulnerable due to extremely small range and ongoing forest loss on the island.
Short-billed Pigeon
Medium pigeon, 25–28 cm, plain ruddy brown with a grey crown and a distinctively short dark bill. Found in lowland and foothill humid forests from southern Mexico to western Ecuador. Frugivore of small forest fruits and berries. Often inconspicuous in dense forest understorey. Least Concern.
