About These Birds
Enggano Cuckoo-Dove
Slender cuckoo-dove, 32–35 cm, uniform warm cinnamon-rufous with minimal barring and a relatively short tail. Restricted to Enggano Island off the southwestern coast of Sumatra. Inhabits dense lowland forest. Frugivore. Vulnerable due to extremely small range and ongoing forest loss on the island.
White-crowned Pigeon
Large pigeon, 35–38 cm, dark slate-grey with a bold white crown and nape contrasting sharply with the dark body. Inhabits tropical hardwood forests and mangroves of the Caribbean islands and Florida Keys. Primarily frugivorous, feeding on berries, seeds, and figs. Near Threatened due to habitat loss and hunting pressure.
