Giant Snipe: 36–40 cm, the world's largest snipe with an exceptionally long bill, rich brown plumage, and heavily barred underparts. Resident in swampy grassland and marshy terrain of Venezuela, Trinidad, Colombia, Brazil, and adjacent South America. Feeds on invertebrates by deep probing. Secretive and crepuscular. Poorly known.
Little Curlew
Little Curlew: 28–32 cm, smallest curlew with a relatively short slightly decurved bill. Breeds on boreal Siberian forest-tundra; migrates to northern Australia, where it winters on short dry grassland, airfields, and burnt areas in large flocks. Insectivorous in winter. Long-distance migrant. Unmistakable when in Australia.
