About These Birds
Bearded Barbet
The Bearded Barbet is a large, colorful barbet of the savanna woodlands and forest edges of West and Central Africa. It has a striking combination of red breast and belly, black upperparts, white cheeks, and a yellow eye ring, along with the characteristic beard-like bristles at the bill base. It feeds primarily on figs and other fruits, and also takes insects.
