Lesser Roadrunner (Geococcyx velox) — 46–52 cm. Similar to Greater Roadrunner but smaller with a more streaked breast. Found in dry scrub, open woodland, and arid valleys from Mexico to Nicaragua. Non-parasitic; carnivorous; eats insects and small vertebrates. Shares the same terrestrial running lifestyle as its northern relative.

북방매뻐꾸기(Hierococcyx hyperythrus, 29–32cm)는 회색 윗면에 적갈색 가슴이 점차 흰색으로 바뀐다. 동아시아 삼림에 번식하고 동남아시아로 이동한다.
