プラムド・ギニアホロホロチョウは中〜大型のホロホロチョウ科の鳥（体重約875 g）で、黒い斑点の灰色羽衣と特徴的なまっすぐな羽状の冠羽を持つ。コンゴ盆地・カメルーンの低地熱帯雨林に生息。グループで林床を採食。コンゴ盆地の原始的・成熟した二次林に関連し分布域が広い、軽度懸念。

アフリカ・マダガスカル原産で、現在は世界各地で家禽として飼育されるホロホロチョウ（体長53〜58cm）。灰色の体に白い斑点が全身にあり、裸の青赤い頭部が特徴的。Numida meleagris（ホロホロチョウ）は大きな群れで行動し、地面をかきながら種子、昆虫、塊茎を食べる。昆虫（マダニ等）の駆除に有用として注目されている。Numididae科。
