The Yellow Bittern (Ixobrychus sinensis) is a small heron of the family Ardeidae widely distributed across South and Southeast Asia and the Pacific. Adult males have a distinctive pale tawny-yellow to buff-brown upperparts and a dark blackish-brown cap, contrasting with cream to buff underparts with brown streaking along the central breast and throat.
