Shining Imperial-pigeon (Ducula chalconota), 38 cm. Richly iridescent bronze-green upperparts with a contrasting pale grey head and underparts. Found in montane forest of New Guinea from 700 to 2,200 m. Frugivore. Least Concern; common in hill and montane forest.

Vinaceous Dove

Medium dove, 25–27 cm, vinaceous-pinkish grey with a dark brown mantle, narrow black neck collar, and pale underparts. Found in the Sahel zone across West and East Africa from Gambia to Sudan, inhabiting dry savanna, thorn scrub, and farmland. Granivore of grass seeds and cultivated grains. Least Concern.
