Red-moustached Fruit-dove (Ptilinopus mercierii), 27 cm. Green with a red moustachial streak and orange underparts; endemic to the Marquesas Islands. Last confirmed on Nuku Hiva and Hiva Oa. Possibly Extinct; last reliably recorded in the 1970s. Threatened by introduced rats and cats.
Sula Fruit-dove
Sula Fruit-dove (Ramphiculus mangoliensis), 20 cm. Green above; male has a yellow breast and pinkish belly with a subtle purple nape wash. Endemic to the Sula Islands (Mangole, Taliabu) of Indonesia. Frugivore in primary and secondary lowland forest. Vulnerable due to limited range and forest clearance.
